The Board of Selectmen convened in the Selectmen's Meeting Room
at 6 Lowell Street, Reading. Members present: Chairman Russell,
Vice Chairman Nigro, Secretary Graham, Selectmen Ziegler and
Landers, and Town Manager Pete Hechenbleikner. Residents present
were as follows: Bud Margossian, David Hazman, Donald Gale, Mary
Bowen, Ted Cohen-Town Counsel, Ed Clark, Stuart LeClaire.
Liason Reports - Eugene Nigro attended a luncheon at the North-
east Vocational School. Fifty-three students from Reading attend
the Voke School. Mr. Nigro also attended a meeting of the
Employee Awards Committee.
Russell Graham attended a meeting with the Town Planner, Jonathan
Edwards and Peter Hechenbleikner, Town Manager to discuss com-
munication problems in the Community Planning & Development
Department.
HOMART- Mr. Hechenbleikner met with Steve Quackinbush, David
Hirtzel, and John Rousseau who is based in Boston. All agree-
ments are signed, including the one with Embassy Suites. A tar-
get date of closing by the end of the first quarter of FY89 is
feasible.
On motion by Landers seconded by Nigro the board approved 5-0-0
the 1-26-88 minutes.
- On motion by Landers seconded by Ziegler the board approved 5-0-0
the 2-1-88 minutes.
On motion by Ziegler seconded by Nigro the board appointed Robert
Ingves to the Insurance Committee for a term to expire on 6-30-
88 .
On motion by Ziegler seconded by Nigro the board appointed
Frances C. Howell to the Cable TV Committee for a term to expire
on June 30, 1989.
Licenses - On motion by Ziegler seconded by Nigro the board ap-
proved the conditional licences of T.J. Roast Beef and Brown Bag,
expiring on December 31, 1988.
On motion by Zeigler seconded by Nigro the board approved the
common victualer licenses for Gregory's Ice Cream and Liberty
Bell expiring on December 31, 1988.
On motion by Ziegler seconded by Nigro the board approved 5-0-0
the Class I license for 128 Sales.
Mr. Edward Clark of 554 Summer Avenue was present to discuss a
drainage problem on his property. Mr. Clark's neighbor resur-
faced his driveway and the water is running onto Mr. Clark' s
property. Mr. Stuart LeClaire the Building Inspector and Ted
Cohen, Town Counsel were present to the discuss the issue with

the Board of Selectmen. Mr. LeClaire informed Mr. Clark that it
not a Zoning issue. Town Counsel informed the Selectmen that it
is a Civil matter.
On motion by Nigro seconded by Landers the board voted 5-0-0 to
enforce the hours of operation for Crestview Exxon.
On motion by Graham seconded by Landers the board proclaimed 5-0-
0 the week of February 15th-21st as Patriotism Week.
On motion by Ziegler seconded by Landers the board voted 5-0-0 to
the release of easement at 328 South Street.
