HomeMy WebLinkAbout1990-05-10 Board of Selectmen Minutes Minutes of the Board of Selectmen Meeting May 10, 1990 The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. by Chairman Russell Graham in Room A209 of the Reading Memorial High School, 62 Oak- land Road, Reading, MA. Present were Selectmen Hines, Nigro, Hoyt; Finance Committee members White, Agneta, Burditt, Allen, MacDonald and Greene ; staff Fletcher, Foley , McIntire , Hechenbleikner, Cohen, Klepeis; Town Moderator Paul Dustin. On motion by Nigro, seconded by Hoyt the Board of Selectmen voted to go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing litigation. Each member voting in favor the motion passed by 4- 0-0. On motion by Burditt, seconded by Don Allen the Finance Committee voted to go into Executive Session. Each member present voting in the affirmative, the Finance Committee voted to go into Execu- tive Session by a vote of 6-0-0. The Town Manager reviewed the current status of the RESCO situa- tion. The recommendation is to cut the budget for trash removal to +/- $900,000, to inform Town Meeting of that this evening, and to delay future budget presentations until the budget can be modified based on the new figures. Ted Cohen was asked if he felt that the legal position was sound in terms of the revised figures and he indicated that this was in accordance with the contract the Town of Reading has with RESCO. The Town is con- sidering entering into litigation with the 19 other communities with RESCO to insure that this position is upheld. On motion by Hoyt, seconded by Hines the Board of Selectmen on a a roll call vote voted 4-0-0 to come out of Executive Session at 7:35 p.m. All members voting in favor the Board of Selectmen came out of Executive Session. On motion by White, seconded by Agneta the Finance Committee voted to come out of Executive Session with all six members voting in the affirmative by vote of 6-0-0.
