Jordan's Furniture Site
Mr. Heckenbleikner:
I had read, with interest, articles published over the
past few weeks in the local papers concerning the
lighting problem involving Jordan's Furniture of
Walkers Brook Drive. It seems you have been quoted as
having indicated that you have received very few
complaints.
Possibly the reason for the paucity of complaints is
exactly the reason for why you haven't heard from me
until today. Rumors have been circulated that
problems created by the Las Vegas style building and
its illumination were in the process of being
resolved. When I look out the picture window in my
family room, I can see a building and its lights that
shine so brightly that it almost appears to abut my
property. The fact that this project was approved by
the planning board should not absolve the town of
Reading from rectifying the problems it helped to
create.
The position and hight of the building as well as
positioning of the lighting structures of the new
Jordan's Furniture on Walkers Brook Road in Reading
have, I feel, significantly reduced the value of my
property. The back of my home overlooks wetlands.
This would include 2 of my upstairs bedrooms, my
family room and outside deck. Unfortunately, it now
overlooks a Las Vegas casino-like building whose
lights oftentimes are shining brightly all night.
I look forward to hearing about a resolve of these
problems at the meeting scheduled for this Saturday,
January 29 at the Senior Center.
