the items appeared on the Agenda for that meeting, and are not necessarily the order in which
any item was taken up by the Board.
The Board of Selectmen met at the old Water Treatment Plant site on Strout Avenue, Reading,
Massachusetts at 9:30 a.m, on.Saturday, July 10, 2004. Present were Chairman Richard
Schubert,Vice Chairman Camille Anthony, Secretary Gail Wood, Selectmen George Hines
and Joseph Duffy, John Wood, Water Treatment Plant Supervisor Peter Tassi, Public Works
Director Ted McIntire, Town Manager Peter Hechenbleikner, Kendra Cooper and a reporter and
photographer.from the Advocate.
Discussion/Action Items
Site Visit at Water Treatment Plant-Peter Tassi and Ted McIntire showed the Board a sketched
plan'of the location and overall layout for the new Water Treatment Plant. They reviewed in the
field where the location would be. The group then reviewed the location of the existing Water
Treatment Plant, and specifically the clear wells and residual handling facility.
There was discussion about recreational uses in the location of a demolished existing Water
Treatment Plant as well as the area further away where the lagoons had previously been.

The following items will be done:
1. Ted McIntire, through CDM, will develop a timeline as to what decisions need to be
made and what timeframe in order to meet the deadlines for the S.R.F. funding schedule.
2. An updated cost estimate for the new plant will be done, including the cost of demolition
of the existing plant.
3. A master plan for the area will be developed. This could be done while design on the
plant itself is being developed.
4. A sketch rendering of the plant will be developed for the Board to review the
architectural design.
The site visit at the Water Treatment Plant on July 10, 2004 concluded at 10:30 a.m.
