HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006-07-25 Board of Selectmen HandoutHi Neighbors,
On July 11'', the Board of Selectmen will be reviewing my request to place a Stop Sign at
the intersection of Curtis Street and George Street (heading Southbound on Curtis Street).
When Greystone Estates was approved by the Zoning Board there were stipulations that
proper safety signage be placed at the entrance of the development. To date, there has
been no appropriate signage added in the area.
A previous Selectmens' Meeting resulted in a STOP sign being placed at the eastbound
end of George Street. While this was certainly a welcome safety consideration, many
people, including Curtis and George Street residents, made the point that a more
appropriate STOP sign would be located on Curtis Street at the George Street
intersection. A STOP sign in this area would force residents/guests entering Greystone
Estates to travel at an appropriately safe rate of speed on Curtis Street and when entering
the development. Likewise, it would eliminate the common practice of cars speeding
around the turn onto George Street. On another note, as many of you know, we see
multiple cars per day traveling at a high rate of speed down the end of this street
believing it is a cut through to Woburn.
i can think of no reasonable opposition to slowing down traffic in our neighborhood. If
you agree, please feel free to attend the Selectmen's Meeting on July 11 or sign my
petition with your support for adding this important safety feature to our neighborhood.
As a father of two children under 4, I have a vested interest in keeping the neighborhood I
love safe.
Thanks so much,
Tim O'Connor

Our neighborhood deserves to be safe. I support the installation of a STOP sign on Curtis
