I just want to know I can shop in Reading and not have to worry a time limit from one area to another. I am all for supporting business in town having been part of a local business that has been in Reading for 72 years. Good luck and thank you. Just for your information, there is not proposed change on Linden Street from the current situation. Resident parking is proposed for both sides of Linden Street from Haven to Woburn Streets. Yet the buildings on the east side of the street include at least three-fifths nonresidential use (Masonic building, funeral home, and Verizon building). It would seem more logical to assign the standard two-hour parking limit to the east side of Linden Street. The west side of the street should be more than adequate for resident parking. Right now they play "move the vehicle to another spot" and we are trying to address that. Realistically in the situation that you are talking about we would not be able to enforce - but we do need the ability to not have employees just move the car 2 spaces down and have that be ok. We are also working to expand the spaces for employees, but they will be not as convenient, and will cost something. It's a fine balancing act. But I am confused. If I understand this plan correctly from the Chronicle - when I have an appointment to have my hair done on Main Street, Salon Muffies, which may take close to 2 hours, I am in violation if I move to another town parking area to grocery shop at the Atlantic, or other in town shopping, banking, etc???????? And my alternative would be to shop in another town??????? If I read this correctly It doesn't make any sense. I thought the idea of changing the parking times was to bring in more shoppers, etc. to Reading center. Ellen J. Hechenbleikner J DATE: June 12, 2006 RE: Appointment of the CPDC The Chairman of CPDC has indicated an interest in setting up a Master Plan Implementation Committee. He envisions it can be made up of all five members of the CPDC plus four associates. Therefore, the quorum for this group would be five. They would need to have all of the associates and one regular member at a minimum at each meeting. The Committee could meet monthly and actually act as one of the Boards, Committees and Commissions that the Master Plan recommends establishing (perhaps the Housing Partnership). With this in mind, the Board may want to consider putting as many as four Associate members on the CPDC. The process then would be to establish, by the Board of Selectmen, as a standing committee or maybe as an ad hoc committee to see how it works, a Master Plan Implementation Committee. This will be done as separate action at a later date. I have made other commitments over the last year that conflict with some of the regular meetings. More important, my current job requires a lot of travel, and that could cause me to miss too many meetings. If there are other ways that I could help out that would not require regular meeting attendance, I would entertain those. Regards, David A.
