On motion by Schubert seconded by Goldy, the Board of Selectmen voted to go into Executive Session for purposes of strategy with respect to negotiations of real estate not to come back into Open Session. On a roll call vote, all five members voted in the affirmative. Discussion/Action Items Potential Acquisition of 1441 Main Street - The Town Manager reviewed the status of the potential acquisition of 1441 Main Street. Jim Fitzgerald, husband of one of the owners and brother-in-law to the other owner, had met with the Town Manager. The Town Manager followed up with him and Mr. Fitzgerald's counter offer was $840,000. The Town Manager's previous authorization by the Board of Selectmen was $805,000. The Board felt that the $805,000 was consistent with previous indication from the property owner (they had indicated previously that they wanted to get the assessed valuation of the property that is $776,400). The Town Manager noted that the property owners may be somewhat negotiable from $840,000 but would not accept less than about$825,000 according to Fitzgerald. The consensus of the Board of Selectmen was that they should not change their previous authorized amount of$805,000. If the property could not be acquired for that, then the Town would still be able to manage to develop a trail system without it. On motion by Tafoya seconded by Schubert, the Board of Selectmen voted to adjourn the Executive Session of June 6, 2006 at 9.25 p.m. on a roll can vote with all five members voting in the affirmative.
