Interview Incumbents and New Applicants for Volunteer Boards and Committees
Anthony Fodere is an incumbent associate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. He stated that things on
the Board are going well and the members have a great mix of industries and knowledge. He is currently an
associate interested in being appointed as a full member.
Catherine Svirsky is an incumbent associate member of the Town Forest Committee. She feels that things are
going well on the Committee, and she is learning the ebb and flow of town government. She is currently
working on getting quotes from foresters for work in the Town Forest.
Rosella Hinkle is a new applicant for the Town Forest Committee, and daughter of the previous interviewee,
Catherine Svirsky. She does not have much volunteer experience, but she has been in clubs and used to be a
gin scout. She stated that she is passionate about trying to make changes in places and feels that the Town
Forest Committee is a great place to start. She has attended some Town Forest Committee meetings and has
helped with a lot of buckthorn pulling. She has no issue with being appointed to an associate position on the
Committee.
Bob McSheffrey is a new applicant interested in the Community Planning and Development Commission
(CPDC). He stated that he became interested in applying to the Commission following a golf outing with other
board and committee volunteers. He grew up next door in Woburn and bought a house in Reading in 2000. He
builds homes in Reading, Wobum, and Burlington. He just finished a three-year term serving on the board of
Bear Hill Golf Club and found the way clubs are run interesting. He stated that he thinks serving on CPDC
might give him the same feel.
Steven Cool is a new applicant interested in the Animal Control Appeals Committee. He stated that he thinks
his temperament, judgement, and ability to understand the law and bylaws would be beneficial to the
Committee. He is very interested in dogs and their welfare and has researched much about Reading's dog
community. He understands that the need for the Committee to meet is not frequent. He noted that he works
well with others to reach a fair consensus to protect the Town.

Jeff Hansen is a new applicant interested in the CPDC, Historical Commission, Housing Authority, and
Recreation Committee. His first choice is CPDC, as he served on the Commission several years ago. While on
the Commission, he was on an ad hoc committee to rewrite a zoning bylaw. He learned of the need for
members on the Climate Advisory Committee and stated that he would be open to help there if needed. He is
open to full or associate positions.
