The Volunteer Appointment Subcommittee called to order at 5:31 pm. Interview Candidates for Volunteer Boards and Committees Courtney Anderson Courtney Anderson is a newer Reading resident of two years, looking to get more involved in the Town, and is a new applicant to the Climate Advisory Committee. Though she does not have a professional background in environmental sustainability, she is very passionate about it in her personal and home life. She has been participating in Climate Advisory Committee meetings since July and has learned a lot about it. She feels that her research and analytical skills could be a benefit to the Committee. Jeanne Cappuccio Jeanne Cappuccio has lived in Reading for 27 years, and is applying for the newly created Commission on Disabilities (COD). She is interested, as her daughter has an intellectual disability and found that inclusion in the neighborhood school was a challenge. Her daughter was placed out -of -district and found her community. Jeanne and her family still struggle to find resources for her and make meaningful connections in this community. She is an avid volunteer and was president of the Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC) when her daughter was younger. She feels that the COD is a great opportunity to make connections and help make things more inclusive. She has worked as a special educator for 20 years. Michael Moschella Michael Moschella is an applicant interested in the Commission on Disabilities. He stated that he has been in a wheelchair since 1982 following a broken back sustained in a car accident. He has been a software engineer since 1988. He is an active individual who enjoys scuba diving, vacationing, and tinkering with mechanical things, and has learned a lot about living with disabilities. He has volunteered at Spaulding Rehab teaching newly injured people things he has learned in his experience. He has lived in town for 8 years and would like to give back. Discuss Recommendations to the Select Board Melissa Murphy and Karen Rose -Gillis discussed and agreed on recommendations to the Select Board.
