186 Summer Ave -Joint Public Hearing with Reading Historical Commission
PD gave an overview of the catastrophic fire that destroyed the barn and heavily damaged the
home at 186 Summer Ave. Several members of the HDC and RHC asked the owner some
questions regarding insurance, damage assessment and future plans forthe property. Mr.
O'Neill said that he and his partner, Jerry Lamb, still had not made a decision regarding the
future of the property. RHC subsequently voted to impose and then release the Demolition
Delay for the property.
PD made a motion to extinguish the Preservation Restriction Agreement for the property, citing
the destruction of the home from the fire, pursuant to Paragraph 26 of the Agreement. EB
seconded. The motion passed 5-0. PD made a motion to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness,
allowing the demolition of the house. PD noted that the neighbors were already notified of the
pending demolition via the Public Hearing notice that was sent out. VA seconded. The motion
passed 5-0. Since a Public Hearing was already held a future one is not needed. ADF will issue
the Certificate of Appropriateness.
PD made a motion to close the Public Hearing. EB seconded. The HDC portion of the evening
was closed with a 5-0 vote. PD made a motion to adjourn. EB seconded. Meeting adjourced
after 5-0 vote.
