Minutes: July and August 2024 Minutes approved 2. Current Projects: • Evergreen Trail: Bob Conner and Fred McGrane offered to assist with building the trail. John Kasbinos will send out an email to the committee to organize a workday in September or October • Update Town Forest Map: Chuck will post the updated TF map on the town website and make copies to distribute at kiosks • $00 West Street Trail: Bob Connor reported that 500 West Street has been surveyed and marked. Kathy will organize a site visit with Conservation to finalize the trail location • Bare Meadow Boardwalk Repair: Ben will contact Will to develop a stock list for this project. John will reach out to the committee to set up a project date. We are hoping to complete this boardwalk this Fall • Revive Hunt Street trail and bridge including removal of a beaver dam (MailletSommes-Morgan Conservation Area) *We will do this ASAP 3. Future Projects: Lob's Pound Mill IManon Woods: TBD 443 Haverhill Street: TBO Develop construction specifications for boardwalk development: We now have a file with a vadety of specifications for constructing boardwalks Page 1 1 4. Budget: We currently have approximately $ 4,500 in our operating budget and $650 in gifts 'Thank you again to The Women's League for another $250 donation this year! (we will send a thank you note) 5. Discussion on refinements to new trail at the Town Forest Parking Lot: Chuck reported that our DPW has generously offered to build the steps and railing on the slope off the parking lot before winter 6. Conservation Report: • Chuck has asked the Trails Committee to consider adopting two new trails in Reading. One is at 269 Main Street and the other is a new trail in Sturges Park. We will visit the sites and discuss further at our October meeting • The contractor at the new development near Pinevale Conservation Area contributed $10,000 to the town for trail building and improvement projects in the Pinevale area only • Moving forward, the Trails Committee will use "See Click Fix"for all projects we need assistance with. 'The committee agreed to discuss and agree on projects before reporting 7. Outreach Activities: • The second annual Land Use Summit is scheduled for Sunday October 19'". Chuck will organize this event. We also discussed guest speakers and will include ROLT this year • Reading Library Open House Tuesday 10/22124: Kathy and Tom will attend • Trail Adopter Update: Tabled until 10/2124 meeting • John Kastrinos is now the contact for Scout Troop 702 Adjourn: 8:12 PM Next Meeting: Wednesday 10/22024 Page 1 2
