Topics of Discussion:
This meeting was held in-person In the Town Hall Conference Room and remotely via Zoom.
Chair Alan Foulds called the meeting to order at 6:02 pm.
Roll Call - All Present: Jackie McCarthy, Shawn Brandt, Alan Foulds.
Chair Alan Foulds noted that there are two terms on the Permanent Building Committee
(PBC) expiring on June 30' , and two incumbents seeking reappointment, both present this
evening.
Nancy Twomey and John Coote, Incumbents on the Permanent Building Committee, agreed
that it is a good committee.
Ms. Twomey stated that she is excited about the upcoming Killam School Building project,
and enjoys serving on the Committee. There is a lot to do, and it is a great committee for
the town to have.
Mr. Coote stated that the Committee is a perfectly balanced team, with all disciplines
covered. Ms. Twomey echoed his sentiments and noted that the Committee is structured
well.
Mr. Brandt stated that his colleagues on the School Committee, who serve on the Killam
School Building Committee with the PBC, rave about Mr. Coote's and Ms. Twomey's
contributions, and that he agrees with their observations.
Jackie McCarthy thanked both Mr. Coote and Ms. Twomey for serving on the PBC and asked
what they thought some other priorities might be in the near term for the PBC. Ms.
Twomey stated that she Is the Ilalson on the Symonds Way Exploratory Committee, and
that the cemetery building has always had Issues. Mr. Coote stated that a new
senior/community center is in talks right now. He also explained that the PBC is a reactive

committee, not a proactive committee. The PBC does not choose the projects, but takes
them as they come. Ms. Twomey also noted that the Committee ensures that what gets
proposed is what the town gets, and the Committee Is there to make sure decisions are in
keeping with the priorities of the Town economically, functionally, and technically. Mr.
Coote recalled that the genesis of the PBC was the library project, where things fell through
the cracks, and the PBC Is here to make sure nothing falls through the cracks now and In
the future.
On a nomination by Jackie McCarthy, seconded by Shawn Brandt, the Permanent
Building Committee Appointment Committee voted 3-0-0 to appoint John Coote to
the Permanent Building Committee for a three-year term, expiring June 30, 2026.
Roll call vote: Jackie McCarthy - Yes, Shawn Brandt - Yes, Alan Foulds - Yes.
On a nomination by Jackie McCarthy, seconded by Shawn Brandt, the Permanent
Building Committee Appointment Committee voted 3-0-0 to appoint Nancy
Twomey to the Permanent Building Committee for a three-year term, expiring
June 30, 2026.
Rall call vote: Shawn Brandt - Yes, Jackie McCarthy - Yes, Alan Foulds - Yes.
On a motion by Shawn Brandt, seconded by Jackie McCarthy, the Permanent
Building Committee Appointment Committee voted 3-0-0 to adjourn at 6:08 pm.
