Topics of Discussion:
The meeting was held via a Zoom Conference Call
Welcome to Members and Guests
Net Zero updates from Travis and Corrin
• Very few responses from the postcards
• MAPC will have a dedicated table at Friends & Family day
o Ideally positioned near the Town booth and RCAC
• Another round of outreach for Net Zero is expected
o Date is TBD
• Friends & Family day will be interactive
Updates from Ray
• Killam sustainability group is in progress
o May 21 is the next meeting
o Focus will be on the mechanical (e.g., HVAC system)
• The meeting will be attended by Gena, Ray, possibly Carolyn
• We should pay attention to sidewalk utilization and improvements
• Promote better sidewalks and thus walking
o Something to suggest to the select board.
o Others can benefit from it
• RCAC should be supporting walkability

META updates
• Repeated what has been presented during the Town Meeting (video recorded by RCTV)
Walkerbrook Dr.
• The land use around Walkerbrook area should likely be used for RMLD given that they
anticipate additional personal, in time, to support energy demand
• The MBTA development should be made safer.
• Additional pedestrian access
• Connecting reading to Wakefield via bike lane to achieve domino effect
RMLD updates
• Believes the power will double in 10-15 years
• The power cost is likely to increase, with bidders against other municipalities
• Generating the power in-house would be more beneficial
• Supplement solar with natural gas fuel cell with carbon capture technology
• RMLD is looking at federal funding opportunities
• Methane fuel cell has been demonstrated
• Carbon capture has been demonstrated
• RMLD may transition from being a broker to a generator
Reading Cares program update
• Travis and Ray helped
• 142 bikes have been moved
• Over 80 got exchanged
• Some went to Cambridge, bikes not bombs
• Some went to play it again sports in north reading., there is a demand
Friends and Family Day
• Mark, Ray, and Corrin will help out
• Sub committee with above mentioned folks being formed to support the organizational
effort
