Net Zero Action Plan • The town has selected 8 people (out of 20) to participate in the group • The kickoff is currently scheduled for January 30th • Reading will be partnering up with RMLD on electrification • Greenhouse gas inventory findings will be shared with the general public at the high level o The goal is to convey to the general public why the town is doing this • Bill Bullock is working with Andrew and will be providing the data o The data will Include public and private building sector • Susan mentioned waste elements and how composting can be used to reduce waste, and thereby emissions • RCAC will support public education and outreach on this effort Page 1 1 aw Town ofReading (W JMeeting Minutes b. MBTA Communities Process • Andrew provided and update on the current MBTA Communities work -in -progress plan Lack of multi -family housing has been emphasised • The Zone has been reduced from the past draft • One of the goals is to preserve the backyards and height remains the same • RCAC should support a public hearing • Gena commented that this effort is "sustainable" thing to do (building on already developed lots) • Susan commented that the town should engage with the younger folks Travis report on engagement with RMLD • Adoption of heat pumps is going well • Complimentary weatherization program has been roll out (rebate) • Inflation reduction act will go towards decarbonization and Improved efficiency Bill Bullock reported on work at RMLD RMLD will be working on the sustainability subcommittee on Killam school • Current ETI of 80-90 ETI -> trying to drive It down to <25 • Significant increase in ef0ciency Is one of the goals • Gena would like to join the subcommittee for Killam Susan updating on Kiss the Ground showing • Movie viewing at the library • Proposed date is March 5th and/or March 12th • Possibly involve Friends of the Reading Library • Would be awesome to provide hot cocoa etc. • Agreed to go with the 5th Page 1 2
