Topics of Discussion:
Dog Park Discussion
Stephen Cool gave the board a presentation on where the dog park proposal stands.
The committee then discussed annual maintenance costs, potential noise conflicts because ofthe gun range
next door and wetlands restrictions.
Pickleball Players Association
The Pickleball Players Association gave the board an updated presentation on their request for pickleball
courts.
They noted they have fled a citizen's petition, and it is on the Town Meeting warrant for the upcoming
November Town Meeting. It was also noted that FINCOM took a vote to support this article and that vote
failed, by a vote of 3-6. SWEC discussed that FINCOM vote and asked why they did not end up supporting
the article. It was explained that some members of FINCOM felt they did not follow procedure when going
about this and are jumping in line of other projects that need to be done first.
D'scussion on RFI submiltals
The committee reviewed the one submittal they received to their RFI. It was from EDGE Sports and they
submitted a very basic proposal of a large multi -sport complex. They cited many examples of similar
projects they have completed in the area and outside of Massachusetts as well.
The committee then discussed ifthey should invite the developerto a meeting to hear from them directly
and ask more questions. They discussed whether or not they should wait to do that and see what the Select
Board wants to do. SWEC is tasked with giving the Select Board suggestions for the Symonds Way area.
Some members feel they should submit what they received and then let the Select Board decide if they want
to pursue the Edge Sports proposal further or not.
Future Agendas
The committee set their next meeting for November 6'", 2023.
