Public Comment
Emmy Dove will like to begin the public comment with a few thoughts. Dove's first thought
was about alternatives revolving around bait boxes. Focusing on habitat mitigation has
brought the idea of altering the trash bins in these locations and consider this in future
discussions. An alternative Emmy Dove brings to light was Contrapest. Richard Lopez asked
how would Contrapest be distributed and actually take effect in these populated areas. Ade
Solarin Interjects and states Doug Smith is here today to go over Contrapest with us. Emmy
Dove brings up her last thought about ventilation in buildings. Dove hopes the Board would
be open to review the guidelines (CDC guidelines published May 11, 2023) and compare
them to local and state building codes and see if any of the changes need advocating for.
Rodent Control Follow Uo
Ade Solarin shares the pest reports and the activity level chart from the past year. Mr.
Solarin presented a PowerPoint based on the bait boxes and what rodenticide is being used.
As shown In the reports and chart, rodent activity is most active in warmer weather. Mr.

Solarin continues with the presentation about Bromadlolone which Is the current rodenticide
being used. The PowerPoint Introduces how Bromadlolone affects humans and animals. Ade
Solarin finishes up the presentation and Introduces Doug Smith. Mr. Smith shares a one -
minute video about Contrapest. It's a liquid contraceptive that works on males and female
rodents and it can build up to 60 days with no reproducing and multiplying. Ade Solarin
states that the Board has enough information to decide what is best. The final decision is to
leave the bait boxes in place for the summer and continue considering Contrapest. Ade
Solarin will work with the Town Manager and Procurement Office to see if Contrapest is the
best solution and financially possible. Next, it was suggested that the Health Department
will begin to notify residents surrounding Washington Park and ask everyone to report any
rodent activity and lastly that the Health Department will make flyers educating residents on
how to lower the risk of rodent infestations.
