Call to order: Quarterly council meeting called to order at 3:15pm by Sarah Leveque 2. Public Comment: Members had no public comment. 3. Review/Acceptance of Minutes (January 17,2023): Members had the opportunity to review the draft minutes from the January 2023 meeting and voted unanimously to approve them, 4-0. (2 Members absent) 4. New Business: Focus areas for this year • Discuss School Improvement Plan o Focus on sense of belonging for all students; staff meeting and PD in alignment with that focus area. e School Building Budget • School supply kits previously purchased/donated by families will now be absorbed into the school budget. This means per pupil spending previously allocated to classroom teachers to purchase materials will be less than years past. Anticipated that materials me be ordered on a rolling basis as -needed versus full purchase in June/over the summer. • Funds were allocated for Assistant Principal roles at each elementary school versus a stipend and dual role position. SY 23-24 will be the first year with a formal, full-time Assistant Principal. This role will allow for coaching, team -mentoring with new Page I 1 curriculum and more availability of administrative staff throughout the building. Space to house this office was of concern as Killam is at max capacity with common areas being used for learning spaces. The district has committed to shifting office staff to accommodate this with the least amount of disruption to student -used space. • Grants that find 5 academic tutors expire this SY and 4 funded positions will be in place for 23-24 SY; this shift allows for a full-time MLL teacher at the building level to support with the change in needs and growing population of MLL learners at Killam. 0 S. Other: None were discussed. 6. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 3:35pm due to technical difficulties with internet. School Council will reconvene lune 2023. Page 1 2
