Meeting minutes for 02/24/2021 has been accepted as amended.
Middlesex Climate Countdown 2021 - Outcomes
Several RCAC members attended
• Status of Climate Bill progressing in revised form
• Community outreach tool to promote environmental activities
• Networking tool for public to Interaction and feedback
• RMLD & Abode hosts outreach activities and has contractor recommendations
• Software costs $1500 initially and $900 annual maintenance
• Metrics for per person carbon footprint last done in 2008
EV Parking and Charging Stations
• List of 9 sites in Reading promoted by the Select Board
• Four priority sites have been recommended
• Commercial/Retail locations also being evaluated (REI parking area)
• Level 2 or 3 chargers depend on activity at that site (time of stay)
• Pole mounted chargers piloted in Melrose, community engagement issues
• Cost components of a charger installation for discussion purposes
(Company/Resident owned vs RMLD owned)

Select Board Presentation on Biomass Plants
• Select Board approved 5-0 to oppose use of biomass in Reading electrical supply
• Need to work more with Reading CAB to promote energy initiatives
• Need to promote what is desired as well as what is not desired as energy sources
• Still need to deal RMLD contract with the Palmer plant, depending on the plants
viability and DOE assignment of renewable energy credits
RCAC and Reading Cares Bicycle Recycling Event
• Event for 2021 being discussed
• Coordination with RMLD being made with a Zoom call in Tuesday (3/30)
• Issues related to COVID and minimizing potential exposure pathways
• Opportunities for RCAC members to prep bikes
Connection with Environmental Club
• Travis still looking to find activities that are of interest to the Club
• Opportunities to engage with RMLD or the student role on RCAC
• Potential student intern position(s) with specific goals and objectives
Other updates
• Ethic training is due.
