Peter MacGown promoted from Associate Member to Member for this meeting. Sustainable Middlesex Carbon Countdown 2021 (3/13/2021) • Virtual Meeting - Signup to get a link to connect Review of breakout sessions being offered • Need to register to participate in the ZOOM call • Celeste to post a message to the event link March 2, Heat Pump 101 with RMLD • Attendance over 120 logged in through Eventbrite others connected through RCN • Many Reading residents signed up for heat pump consultations • Great presentation overall EV Parking • Need to locate places in town for EV stations Consideration needs to be given perceived limited parking locations • Multiple chargers can serve multiple parking spots RMLD looking for Level 2 and Level 3 chargers Melrose looking to install on -street charging using existing utility poles Page I 1 Town of Reading - Meeting Mlnubs • Increase the use of EV by municipal vehicles (RMLD, Reading DPW) • New developments are including EV charging spaces RMLD Policy 30 for Energy Purchases • RMLD revised policy such that biomass plants will not be sought by RMLD • Reading CAB representative and Board of Commissioners approved change Connection with Environmental Club • Liaison to the High School about Climate Committee Issues - Travis Estes • Looking for opportunities to have students involved • Earth Day activity if it is held this year • Create around videos about energy projects • Climate curriculum topics currently available • Introducing climate literature (fiction and non-fiction) Green Community Participation • Internship programs for high school students • Senator Lewis proposing a Bill to reduce single use plastics (State Level Action) Other updates • Planning for the Bicycle Recycling event on going • March 23 Biomass Update to the Select Board Next meeting 3/24/2021 at 7:00 pm Page 1 2 m�xacm
