Reading Public Library (RPL) • Amy Fang Lannon & Lauren Gardner from RPL presented • Reading looking for certification as a Climate Hub • Looking to make greater use of outdoor space • Putting up a tent to begin to test uses of outdoor space • Looking to partner with other groups in Town to brain storm uses for the space • Emphasis on social justice and environmental justice a core value • Cathy Zeek (working with Celeste) interested in supporting this activity • Renewable energy demonstration - solar and wind power (energy meters) • Pollinator garden, rain garden, native plants, seed library combined with presentation on the topic • Celeste to serve as liaison to the RPL outdoor planning meetings. Page 1 1 Town of Reading - Meeting Minutes EV Charging Stations / Electrification • Dave made some initial inquiries about EV locations • Reached out to Chuck Underhill but has not connected • Dave to follow-up with Chuck • Genedy has searched for potential locations for EV sites • 6 primary locations and 3 less likely locations Environmental Metrics for Sustainable Development • Based on an article from Travis, Reading is not a list of "Green Community" • That Reading is part of RMLD which serves multiple communities and creates administrative barriers • The Town needs to zoning favorable for solar energy • Next meeting to focus on metrics for the sustainability plan. • Travis to send out a Google form to rapture ideas Community Garden Grant • Celeste spoke with Cathy Zeek, and Reading Food Bank to discuss needs for garden • Developing criteria for a garden to rank area that could be sites • Open space planning conducted every few years to rank potential uses. • A community ranked #5 as desirable uses • Meeting Bob Lelacheur is to facilitate contacts in the Town. Student Interns from HS Environmental Club • Travis has not spoken with Club recently • Public Service Message (2 - 3 min segments) • Data Collection (Environmental Metrics) • Survey for Farmers' Market • Leon and Sedona are interested in working with the club • Wait for feedback from students to gage their interest. • RPL does not have interns, but they do use student as "Tech Guides" and to shelve stuff. • Online content can be posted on You Tube • Plastic collection drive to earn a recycled plastic bench RCAC Summer Social • First choice: Saturday, June 26, 12:30 - 3:30pm • Rain date: Sunday, June 27, 12:30 - 3:30 pm • I will send a message out.
