Welcome to Members and Guests
Review minutes, vote on acceptance
Meeting minutes for 5/13/2020 was accepted as amended.
Meeting minutes for 4/22/2020 was accepted as amended.
Ongoing Business:
• Sustainability Plan - Draft
• Reviewed additional slides added to the Sustainability presentation
• Discussed the content of the Introduction and Approach Slides
• Graphic of the cost-risk/benefit in the backup slides could be moved up to an
earlier slide.
• Add RMLD LEAP slide to the backup slide that highlights renewable energy
recommendations.
Adopting the Green Communities Program
• Julie Mercier joined to talk about being a "Green Community" designation
• Reading Town Meeting gave an instructional motion to join the Green Community
designation. Reading does not have a property that draws power from an investor
owned utility.
• Karen Herrick has had a discussion with RMLD (Colleen) to join the Green
Communities program.
• RMLD has the ability to bill Reading separately for the renewable trust fund.
• Five elements

1. "As of right" for energy facilities in our zoning by-laws (site plan review)
2. Prove we can expedite permitting for renewable energy facilities.
3. Energy reduction plan (20%) for controllable facilities over the next 5 years
(since 2017)
4. Fuel efficient vehicles for Town use/purchases
S. Adopt the stretch code for building construction.
Time frame to complete the 5 elements is about 12 to 18 months.
. Route 28 Road Diet
• Howard Stein Hudson (Nate Lash) summary of road diet summary.
• Jeff commented on the statistics related to crash analysis.
• Roadway diet was an integral part of the repaving project.
• Painting of North section has begun this week.
Criteria for determining acceptance criteria for the road diet's implementation
after the pilot.
• Talk with neighbors about the impacts from road diet.
• Membership Status
• No new Information in the expected changes in Committee Membership
Have opening for one Associate Member
• Reading Climate Advisory Committee Barrel at Train Station
• Memorial Day ribbon has been added to the barrel.
• The barrel at the train station has been replanted with native plants from Mary
Howard's yard.
• Recycling and Reuse of Bags
• Public Health has an order that says customers "shall not" bring cloth bags into
stores for purchases.
• Liquor stores and recycling centers have not been accepting returnable bottles.
