NJ9'INCOPOOPPt s,& Board -Committee -Commission -Council: 2823 MAR -8 PM 3: 07 Climate Advisory Committee Date: 2019-10-09 Time: 7:00 PM Building: Reading Town Hall Location: Lower Level Conference Room Address: 16 Lowell Street Purpose: Bi -monthly meeting Attendees: Members - Present: David Zeek, chair; Ray Porter, secretary; Celeste Kracke, member; Denise McCarthy, associate member; Jeff Everson; member; Peter MacGown, Associate member Members - Not Present: Patti Cameron RMLD, member; Gina Snyder, Associate member, Others Present: Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Ray Porter Topics of Discussion: Welcome to Members and Guests Review minutes, vote on acceptance Minutes from September 11 and 25, 2019 accepted as amended Ongoing Business: • South Main Street Road Diet • Gina circulated petition from Walkable Reading for Road Diet. • Petition for Road Diet being proposed by Walkable Reading for South Main Street. o Time frame for highway project is typically about 2 years o Proposed alternate painting during course paving phase o Road Diet is a part of the road improvements for North Main Street (north of Lowell Street) • Natural Gas Survey Proposal • Andy Friedmann preparing a proposal for the Select Board meeting this month. • Meeting with National Grid Meeting Arlington Tuesday (10/15) • EV Charging Stations • Bob LeLacheur has stated the DPW is developing the infrastructure for installing charging stations. • David to follow up with Bob for DPW contacts Page I 1 Town of Reading - Meeting Minutes • Sustainability Plan • Key topics Health, Food, Waste, and Climate Change. • Other City plans: o Lexington Plan did not include natural gas disaster. • Commit to devoting next meeting to brainstorm topics and share information before the meeting Topics (previously discussed): o Shave the peak o Solar installations (Town buildings) o Auto charging stations o Road diet on Rt. 26 o Sidewalks for alternative transportation (walking, biking) o Crosswalks and linkages to residences, stores and industrial zones (Walkable Reading) o Bikeways o Tree thinning and plantings (Town Forest Boy Scouts) o HVAC upgrade to schools (heat pump) Steps o Brainstorm ideas o Cross committee input/buy in o Matrix and prioritization o Present to Select Board and RMLD The meeting adjourned at 8:40 pm Next meeting 10/23/ 2019 at 7:00 pm Page 1 2
