The new owner is a family member of the previous owner. Which means that the opportunity for Walgreens may not be completely over. Mark visited the former Rite-Aid building on Haven Street. In Mark's opinion that building would be a tear down. The town will issue a new RFP for potential sites for the Pleasant Street Center ReCalc should be involved to help lead a feasibility study with an outside contractor. We have a lot more data from all the research, forums, feedback to provide the contractor of the feasibility study. John Sasso: Are there specific deliverables still outstanding for ReCalc, like a communication plans. John S and John O suggested we work closely with the COA and their communication initiatives. John O'Neill, we should weigh in on pursuing Senior Center vs Community Center with specific Senior Center dedicated time and space. Mark Dockser: What does a Community Center really mean? Is it 24/7? Does it run as a multigenerational fulltime. John Sasso: We need to put together a full ReCalc summary report with all the information that we now have (UMass Study, Forums, Benchmark sites). A motion to support for an intergenerational community center assuming the core needs of the Seniors are being met also understanding that this doesn't need to be met immediately giving resources and other approaches. Voting in the affirmative for the above motion. Ron Assini, Mark Dockser, Norra Bucko, John Parsons, Michael Coltman, John Sasso, John O'Neill Support for a working group like the previous Walgreen working group, to help with the needs assessments for future sites that may arise from RFPs etc. Ron Assini, John O'Neill and Mark Dockser will be members of the working group. Nancy Ziemlak from the COA have developed display boards about a new senior center. These are located at the Reading Library and PSC. COA will be hosting coffee hours to Page 1 2 inform the about a potential new center, but also entice new members to join the current Senior Center.
