Topics of Discussion:
The meeting was called to order at 7:04 p.m
The minutes for June 6, 2022 were reviewed. It was confirmed that 8:30 PM was the time of
adjournment. The minutes were approved with the addition of the adjournment time with 5
votes yes, 0 no, and 2 abstaining as they were not present for that meeting.
We welcomed new members Christine Keller and Annemieka Rice with a round robin of
Introductions.
It was discussed that the Massachusetts Cultural Council does not recognize a difference
between full and associate members and that is more of a Reading differentiation. Brian will
add both new members (one full and one associate) to the Smart Simple Tool so they will
be able to view the panel book when ready.
It was confirmed with Jackie McCarthy, Selectboard Liaison, that we were not secured on
the agenda for the Annual Presentation for September 13th. Jackie will try and secure a
spot for on September 20th for Brian to present at that Selectboard meeting.
Kathy went over the treasurer report. We have $8000 from the Town Funding and we will
prioritize town funding as some of that expires in July. We have $11,645 outstanding to be
paid. Kathy shared that she emailed the 14 outstanding grant contacts to ask for a status
update on their events and asking them to submit for reimbursement by December 31,
2022. The Annual Treasurers Report will be due in Early October. The treasurer report was
accepted with 5 votes yes, 0 no, and 2 abstaining.
Brian announced that we have a new contact at the MCC: Carolyn Cole.

Promotional efforts were discussed. All those having events that we have been approved for
grants were reminded to send pictures of their events. Brian sent information to the
Reading Post about the grant cycle timeline, and we have reserved the sign in Town
Common from October 3rd -17h. Megan will notify the school Superintendent so he can push
the Information to the principals of the various schools. Brian has already emailed our
distribution list that grants are open as well.
The town website was discussed, and it was discussed if it would be best to have the town
update the information there to a link to our own town page within the MCC website versus
listing in duplicate guidelines and priorities in duplicate. The decision was to still show the
details on the Reading Town Page but also include the link to our MCC page. This MCC link
will also be updated within all our social media amounts by Steve.
Discover The Arts Festival had reached out to Brian to ask if we wanted to participate with a
table. He raised this for discussion. The event is on October 15th which Is only 2 days before
the grant cycle concludes. It was mentioned It would have been better timed to have a table
at the Reading Street Faire, but the grant audience is not so much the general public, and
that is why we did not do that this year. The decision was unanimous to not have a table at
the Discover the Arts Festival.
FY 2023 Meeting Schedule was discussed. October V will be our next meeting on zoom. It
was decided to host by zoom the interviews with those applying for a Grant. We will host
these on October 27th and November 16th. On December 15th we will have a deliberation
meeting.
Motion to adjourn from Kathy and seconded by Kerd. Unanimous vote 7-0 to adjourn
Adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
