Feedback from Public Forum on Jun 1 2022 John O'Neil: good cross section, lots of questions in chat, in depth discussions, community taking notice of initiative. Nora Bucko: Well done by Caitlyn, good honest responses, good interaction, went well Mark Dockser:physically at forum, common topic was transportation to the senior center and transportation related to location of senior center. John Sasso:lnterested in recording of forum and was told it was on RCN site. Jean Delios: Spoke to Caitlin and team pleased with forum. Feasibility Study -Next steps Mark Dockser: ARPA granted $900,000 to senior community of which $300,000 will be used for feasibility study. This was approved by Select Board last week. RECALC survey results will be available Nov 2022. Page I 1 Jean Delios:UMASS will release survey in Sep 2022, month for results and plan to present to Select Board in Nov/Dec 2022. Feasibility study will be done after that. An RFP will be made from Town Hall. Kevin sent out updated RECALC survey today Jun 8, 2022 and comments need to be returned by Jun 13, 2022. Mark Dockser: Money for feasibility study committed to end of 2023. Imolementina Communication Plan John O'Neill :Crucial to keep momentum going. field visits, funds, other website recognition John Sasso:Possibly identified senior student to create video of current Pleasant Street Center, availability late summer. Would require guidance from Amy and Jenna on actual contents of video. John Sasso:entered data from Peer Community Centers in Excel Spreadsheet and showed group. John Sasso: Friends and Family Day, table and chairs available with COA representatives, no postcards but flyers available. Jenna can make a sign for table. OR code made and will be sent to Jenna and Jean. OR code for attendees to sign up for RECALC notifications. Amy to provide some acrylic frames for flyers. John O'Neill: requested OR code be sent to Town Manager to post in his news so that residents have link to RECALC website and sign up for notifications. John Sasso: Community Newsletter being created to share recent RECALC happenings (survey coming, forums, grants). Jean Delios:Kevin Bohmiller to be departing at end of month and replaced by Jenna Fiorente. The senior center coordinator FT position was posted . A replacement for Jenna is being sought. A veteran services officer was hired. Recruiting for these positions has been a challenge. Making Use of Data from Field Visits John Sasso:shared computer screen of Excel spreadsheet of data from site visits to communities. John added two items, percent 65 plus and town population from 2020 US Census. Outstanding are center data from Andover (Amy) and Lynnfield (Mark). What do we do with data? How do we analyze it? John O'Neil:Data answers questions on what other centers have, what programs other communities have that we don't have, noted some community centers have senior programming focus during the day. John Parsons:would like to look at data and finds it helpful information for COA and RECALC. Spreadsheet emailed to RECALC members. John Sasso:hopes all data to be entered by the end of the month Page 1 2 Mark Dockser:With regards to Open Meeting Law, spreadsheet can be shared but comments can't. He will locate a previous breakdown of communities conducted by another town for comparison. He suggested we consult UMASS for data analysis ideas. Marilyn Shaleigh:Requested a spreadsheet for COA. Jean Delios:With regards to Open meeting Law, put recipients in BCC so as to not Reply all. The town has a 100 page report of various communities that was done for the override. It was good example of data analysis. Possible RECALL Involvement on New Committee Exploring Use of Town Property on Symonds way Mark Dockser:RFP for requesting space on short or longer term basis for senior center. Town has an existing property on Symonds Way (by skating rink and rifle range). It is buildable and has wetlands. The town would like a committee formed to look at the potential use of this land. Mark questions who should be on committee and when should committee be formed? This committee wants to move fast but should be aware of RECALC timelines since space needs and survey will be identified by Nov 2022. The potential committee members may be made up of the voluntary boards and RECALC. The select board prefers about 7 members. John O'Neil:lmportant that RECALC be represented on the Symonds Way Committee and maybe some non -board members should be included.
