Approve May minutes- Unanimously approved Page I 1 RECEIVED TOWN CLERK REkDING, MA. ZG 2022 JUL 18 PH 2: 03 Town of Reading Meeting Minutes 2.) ARPA Request Dave Williams will present to Reading ARPA advisory Committee on June 15 Shelves for cabin, materials for bridge repair 3.) Kiosk Repairs Update Scouts will repair and repaint kiosks and signs that need attention. John Kastrinos will find out when the work will be done so TC representatives can be there to support There is a new Trails Committee flyer on the kiosks. It will also be available for Friends and Family Day 4.) Summer Work We should hear about the Mass Trails grant this month. If we get that, we could have quite a bit of work. We will get a group together in July to start the new trail in Kurchian Woods There is a pile of stones near the cranberry dam near Wood End. We will plan to spread that, possibly in the lower section of the trail where there are muddy spots. 5.) Upcoming Events Tot walk was cancelled due to heat. • 6/5 -Gid Scouts 2-3 (Kathy) • 6/11 -Friends and Family Day 10-3 (Ben, Kathy, John) • 6/24 -Library Open House 4-6 (Dave, Ray) 6.) Updates from Conservation The Order of Conditions that allows trail work has expired. Chuck Tirone recommends asking for a six month or eighteen month extension in order to rewrite it in the winter. He heard that the DEP is not approving general permits now. It may be a difficult process to re -approve. Page 1 2 Town of Reading Meeting Minutes Chuck Tirone discussed the new trail that will be built at Linetta Lane. It needs a kiosk to mark it. It will eventually connect Eastway to Bare Meadow. Next Step ministries volunteer work will start, pending some paperwork. They will start with the boardwalk at Linetta lane. After that they will start in Pinevale using current supplies that are in the cabin and other supplies being given by a contractor nearby. We will meet at Pinevale Ave entrance at 11:30 on Wed June 8 to do some planning. A contractor is removing knotweed at Maillet that day. Chuck Tirone updated on possible flood control efforts on the Aberjona River. Conservation is putting in a $10k ARPA request for invasive removal and other money for a study of management for Bare Meadow. Chris Cole reports that we are now a sponsoring community of the Ipswich River Watershed Association as well as the Mystic River Watershed Association. This will involve them showing up at town events and helping with grant writing. 7.) Other Business Our 2022-2023 budget is submitted. Kathy Kelly discussed some invasive Bittersweet vines that are taking over two sections in Bare Meadow. Chris Cole agreed to look at it and see what DPW can do. 8.)
