Topics of Discussion:
LAPTOP ROLLOUT AND PHONE POLICY
The meeting started with the group discussing the laptop rollout and issues with some of the forms related to
rollout. The principal and the group discussed the cell phone and will policy, and communications about the
laptop rollout. The principal explained that he had heard from a lot of students about the rollout and policy, and
he was considering whether there would be future options to allow cell phone usage at other times of day than
during school day.
PROGRAM OF STUDIES AND SCHEDULING
The principal shared some information about scheduling, such as that next year's schedule would be identical
to this year's, with flex twice a week, but beyond that he and staff were looking further at scheduling. He
indicated that there would not be time before next year to fundamentally change the schedule for RMHS, but
that he and staff also were looking at graduation requirements and pathways, to see if there can be changes
and/or more flexibility. An issue with any future plans is a need to be sure that special education requirements
are incorporated.
The principal said that he is looking at what other school districts do, such as how Masconomet has a Senior
Capstone program, and whether that could be applicable to future classes at RMHS. The principal shared that
they may consider hiring a consultant to help define future course pathways (e.g., biomedical) for junior and
senior years. He indicated that next year the program of studies would have more computer science classes
than currently offered, including an intro to computer science class.
The principal noted that RMHS will be incorporating the Mass Core (of classes) starting with next year's
Freshman class.
The council discussed graduation requirements generally, including whether there could be additional flexibility
in satisfying PE requirements with sports counting towards PE, as is done in some other districts.
Other topics: graphic arts classes are "coming back", possibly classes relating to racism and an "on ramp* to
world languages class.

The principal shared that the administration is evaluating the leadership structures for gr. 6-12 for consistency.
The meeting ended at approximately 5pm
