Topics of Discussion:
(5:05) Review and vote on minutes from December 8, 2021, meeting.
a. Motion to accept by Erin Gaffen
b. Motion accepted by Michelle Kane
(5:08) Handbook Discussion
a. Equity Audit continued from last year
1. Draft provided based on feedback from last year's team's work
2. Cannot change some district policies so those were left as is
b. Review Rubric
1. Eye for language, tone, student friendly
2. Don't worry about what's missing
c. (5:15-6:05) Breakout groups: Continue Handbook Revisions
Split into 3 breakout groups
1. Breakout group 1: Start through bathroom policy
a. Intro seems straightforward— add some language about being
welcoming and inclusive community
b. Advisory/extended homeroom
i. Write out "homeroom" not HR
ii. Punctuation of resources? (italics?)
iii. Students and staff are exploring these themes together—
notjust students doing the work/thinking/community-
building
iv. Add "embracing and celebrating diversity"
v. Last sentence: then be more disposed to contribute
to school and the larger community doesn't work

and comfort in engaging in their
community"
vi. Should we change electronic devices to phones? Or
include watches?
vii. (at this point we started making suggestions and
comments directly in the handbook document)
Breakout group 2: Attendance, punctuality, truancy (see google doc)
Breakout group 3: Bus regs through food service (see google doc)

L Ms. Shankland will go through comments and try to pull them into the draft
ii. Next time there will be further edits to examine together
iii. Comments
1. Breakout group felt productive- tightened things up and clarified
2. Draft is much more inclusive and welcoming than the original from the
spring.

a. Trying to keep meetings to one hour/one hour and fifteen minutes
