Follow up on meeting with Council on Aging. Mark Dockser: 5 things for Council on Aging meeting on February 8, 2022 • Assure there is a bathroom on each floor • Capabilities for hearing impaired • Reception area • Library resource room (tax materials, other things that have taken place in the past • Rehab Pool John O'Neill: Happy to see that hearing impaired was included in something we should consider for a new center. It's up to public organization to make it available. Zoom sessions have live transcription capability. Consider for seeing and hearing impaired (someone who can Sign for the deaf). Looking into Virtual Reality technology is something could change the quality of life for those who are isolated. Mark Dockser: The ability to expand emergency button capability beyond the home. Barbara: Talked to Lifeline: Upgrade is available that has a GPS and fall alert John O'Neill: We were handed this timeline for working with the Consultant, forthe March / April town meeting. Was hoping that we should be interfacing with the Consultant who has been on board for two weeks. Mark Dockser: Prepare for the town select board with the Consultant 1. Is a document for information town meeting 2. A verbal presentation Jean Delios: Awarded the RFP with UMASS Center Gerontology The Consultant's work is different than what ReCalc is doing since this person is mostly focused on community outreach to get feedback. March Select Board Meeting is March 1, 2022. Who would be presenting from ReCalc. Town Meeting starts at the end of April. The Town Moderate needs to be notified to get on the agenda. Suggestion we have some value that we could share with the Consultant based on the 5 meetings we have had to date. Mark Dockser: Talk about timing. We will report March 19 or 22 for town council. We need to understand the timelines when working with the Consultant We as a group, need to organize some visits to other towns/city's senior/community centers. The expectation is starting to build a repour with Town Meeting about what ReCalc has been doing. John O'Neill: How do we get to process of gathering how other towns have addressed a senior/community center? John Sasso: I thought we had documentations / proposals from what other communities have done. Volunteering to see other centers. Recent outbreak of Could slowed this effort. List of questions and items as we visit other centers. Have we decided if the survey would be broad based across the community vs. just targeting the seniors in the community? Jean Cellos: Confirmed the survey(s) will distributed widely throughout the community. Marilyn Shapleigh: Visited 5 centers both senior/community centers. Mark Dockser: Reiterated the charge of ReCalc to investigate the need for a new Senior Center and possibly Community Center. John Sasso: Open Meeting law, we need to have transparency. Each person to come a list of questions and someone consolidate the questions. Kevin Bohmiller should have access to documentation/proposals from other communities. ReCalc is charged with the vision going forward with the assurance that we are engaging the community to confirm what we've been planning. Mark Dockser: It's very important to share vision and progress to prepare for town and select board meetings. John O'Neill We need to develop a set of standard questions to have available for each center visit. Marilynn Shapleigh: Expressed concern with just one survey for the entire community. Perhaps there are few surveys that is more targeted at the various demographics. There are specifics needs address with the survey (large fonts). John Sasso: Willing to collect questions for the Consultant John O'Neill Willing to collect the list of questions for visits to other centers Jean Delios: The Consultant will be available for 4 ReCalc Meetings and COA. One meeting should be do draft the questions for the Survey. Mark Dockser: Will get a time slot for the March 22 select board meeting John O'Neill Will present to town council for March 22, 2022 Next meeting February 23 7:OOpm Jean Delios: What's going on in the town Newton and their project. A $15m dollar investment. Write up in the Boston Globe. NewCalc Newton. What might we do with these locations? Time for future meeting. Going into the FinCom budget cycle reviews.
