Minutes respectfully submitted by: Ben Ream Topics of Discussion: 1.) Review and approve last Committee Meeting minutes a. Continue removing invasive species on Trails. e.g.Kathy and Ben began removing Japanese Knotweed from the Minot street entrance to Pinevale b. This is a major project to undertake successfully. Should it be a budget item o or a capital expense item? - TBD 2.) Town Forest Cranberry Bog Trail a. Heavy use has necessitated heavy trail maintenance. Look to repurpose bog bridges if removed from Bare Meadow. 3) Lenetta Lane Update. Trails continues to work with DPW in scoping this project. DPW and Engineering require "grey Markers" or other verifiable markers for accurate survey work 3.) 443 Haverhill Street easement. Easement work has already begun, by starting a street entrance between the two properties Page 1 1 4.) Meadowbrook Proposal. Going through Town Meeting process. % lots are up for sale at approximately $1/2 M each for 5 plots of land across from Meadowbrook Country Club. At the time of this writing the Town of Reading has agreed to buy 1 of the 5 lots to serve as a parking lot to ease congestion on Grove Street and Stroud Ave. 5.) Other Business a. Consider ways or methods to improve public awareness of trailhead entrances b. Ongoing need to proactively recruit Trails Committee Members. Have just recently added Susan for membership process c. Lots of leftover material at Maplewood Trail we should not forget, as there is $9,000 - $10,000 on that trail alone. Perhaps a future Trails work day should be to inventory what supplies and materials belong to RTC? d. "Meet and Greet" with Ann Landry postponed due to Covid restrictions e.
