The council discussed some housekeeping issues. There is the possibility that the Senior Center will be available for next year's meetings. Mary Ann Kozlowski reminded members who will continue on the board to send the agenda for each upcoming meeting to Laura Gemme by the Wednesday before the Monday meeting. She also informed members that she would relay the Council's desire to have the town expand the numbers of members on the RCC as discussed at the May meeting. The treasurer said that there were no significant changes to the balance sheet since the last meeting. She has received two reimbursement requests and the payment of those will result in full expenditure of the town grant. Brian Kimerer conveyed the request of the Reading Art Walk to use the RCC survey results in its publicity activity. The survey found that the Reading Art Walk had the highest attendance of all grant activities. The Massachusetts Cultural Council did not have an objection to the request, leaving the decision to the RCC. Local Council members believed that the publicity might have a positive effect on the number of submissions for next year's grants. Since the survey report is a public document, the members voted to approve the request. Other items discussed addressed current and future methods to get out the word about grants and make contact with the community: • Posting of survey and deadlines for grant submissions on town website Page 1 1 • Posting notices about programs in store windows, the Senior Center, and the library • Looking into the possibility of using the library or the senior center to hold year-end reception. Inducements for attendance could be a scavenger hunt or small prizes • Placing some local art work in the Senior Center • Updating the town about available programs and activities directly and/or through the Select Board Nora Bucko reminded council members that someone must post the announcement of the grant period on the sign at the common in September. Brian Kimerer agreed to do this. Nora has the sign, sample brochures, and a banner belonging to the Council, all of which can be picked up in September. In September, Megan Fidler -Carey and Brian Kimerer will serve as co-chairs and Kern Perry agreed to serve as secretary. We will continue to seek a RMHS student to join the board. Since the town's membership approvals appear to be done at various times throughout the year, other town residents may now be awaiting the results of the approval process. The next meeting will be September 13, 2021. Meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. Page 1 2
