Topics of Discussion:
The meeting was conducted via Zoom and was called to order at 7:03pm.
1. Boy Scout Project - Charlie Lloyd (Troop 702)
He proposed replacing section(s) of Alligator Alley in the Town Forest. The existing
structure needs to be evaluated. The project would likely involve replacing 3 - 10 ft.
sections.
2. Boy Scout - Nicholas Belous (Troop 702)
Nicholas proposed erecting a shade structure at the viewing platform in Bare
Meadow. Kathy had suggested doing a QR code project for trail maps relative to
where the user scanned the code. Nicholas said that the QR project Is a good service
project, just not an Eagle project (which is what he is proposing).
3. Minutes from the meeting on March 3, 2021 were reviewed and approved.
4. Trails Grant Recognition Signage
We are going to hold off putting the sign up at Lowell Street due to the Maillett
Storm Water Project. For now, put the sign up at the Hunt Street kiosk only.

5. Maillett Storm Water Retention Project - Chuck Tirone
Chuck gave an update on this project. There will be a public meeting on Apr 27 at
6:30pm. A couple of the issues that Chuck pointed out is that the road access from
Willow Street is partially owned by the railroad and parking is an issue.
6. Projects for Spring
• Pinevale
o Chuck mentioned that DPW is doing a project at the sewer easement
off Riverside Drive (come in from Maple/Center). DPW is going to put
down bark mulch or stone dust at the entrance and remove the yard
waste. He also mentioned that there is a builder in the Pinevale area
and might volunteer to help with bridge/boardwalk work.
• Work Days (Pinevale)
o Fri Apr 9 at 2:30pm at the cabin for inventory
o Sat May 1 and Sat May 8 work days
o Ian Nelson (Boy Scout leader) said that he will ask Boy Scouts (Troop
702) if they can help on May 8
o Can we get help from Troop 728?
7. Unauthorized Blazing in the Town Forest
• Early in Covid lockdown - straps nailed in trees
• White sloppy blazes on cross-country ski trail
• Ian Nelson said that we should ask Friends of Reading Scouting. He will
send the email address to us.
8. Recruiting New Committee Members
Kathy will draft an email and send to us for review. She will send it to our volunteer
list.
9. Other Business
• John: Dog excrement issue in Bare Meadow (Kathy will put up temporary
signs)
o Also, trees down on Red Trail - need chainsaw
• Kim is retiring in early October - will she be replaced on the Trails
Committee? Ask Jane Kinsella
Next Meeting: Wed, May 5 at 7:OOpm
The meeting was adjourned at 8:19pm.
