Greenwalt.Motion Passed.
Discussion was held on RMHS Handbook
Century Club
• Agreement among all attending that we do not want to eliminate Century Club, but
acknowledgement that the pandemic has made calculating difficult with 2nd semester 2020
being changed to pass/incomplete.
• Trey Skehan explained how the Century Club is traditionally calculated—historically included
quarters 1,2&3,awarded in 4. No mid-year grades included.
• Motion by Michelle Greenwalt, seconded by Eileen Manning—keep the wording for Century
Club as currently written, with acknowledgement that staff will process applicable students once
they are able to figure out how to fairly do so with 2020 pass/incomplete.Motion Passed.
Summer School
• Discussed in prior meeting,removed F-limitation.
• Trey Skehan asked if there were any guidelines addressing students who are attending summer
school for additional credit or moving ahead on pathways. After discussion it was decided that
such policy would fit better in the course of studies than the student handbook.
Financial Obligations
• Principal Boynton discussed the current process with the staff members who deal with the fees.
They proposed wording that splits into Athletics and Extra-Curricular Activities, Library Books
and Materials,Other Material or Equipment,Damaged Property and Senior Financial
Obligations.
• Note was made that athletic and user fees are preferably paid via ESchool, but checks are also
accepted.Checks are accepted for all other fees.
• Motion made by Eileen Manning, seconded by Marianne Downing—accept the proposed
wording for the Financial Obligations section of the handbook.Motion Passed.
Student Records
• Most of the wording in this section is driven by FERPA and cannot be changed.
• Eileen Manning asked why we have to include height and weight of athletes. Principal Boynton
will get further information as to if that is required by the state or if we can change to include
.as required"for sports where it is mandatory.
• Discussion regarding third-party access—Principal Boynton stated that release of information
defaults to"yes"for students. Parents must opt-out if they would like at the beginning of each
year.
• Vote on this section tabled until next meeting pending answers on weight and height release.
Student Supports
• Academic Supports-Principal Boynton stated that guidance is working on setting up peer-
tutoring remotely for students.
• Eileen Manning noted that Services and Accommodations for Students with Disabilities section
feels like it's full of"legalease."Would we like to add some sort of reference to the District or
SEPAC for parents with further questions. Principal Boynton will add hyperlinks to SEPAC,
District special education and DESE.
• Principal Boynton would like to remove the section about disciplining students on IEP because
there are very specific regulations on disciplining those students. She will check to see if we are
able to remove.
Next meeting March 9,2021.We will continue to work through the handbook and Principal Boynton will
share the work done on the Portrait of the Graduate with the group.
Meeting adjourned at 6:15 PM.
