Pooja Parsons is an associate member of the Council on Aging seeking reappointment. She has served for five years and also volunteers on the School Council and Scholarship Foundation. Current efforts for the COA include plans to reopen the Pleasant Street Center, hiring the new Elder/Human Services Administrator, and conducting an assessment for a new senior center. Ron Weston is a current member of the Historical Commission seeking reappointment as an Associate member. He has served on the Commission for six years, with two years serving as Chair. He stated that he has been feeling a little burned out and was finding it difficult to fully participate in meetings due to a long-term hearing issue. His master plan is to back away from a full role and give younger members a chance to step up and carry on. Current Associate member, Amelia Freedman, is ready to fill the full member seat. Brian Healy is a new applicant for the Board of Health. He has lived in Reading for 13 years and works as a Biostatistician at Mass General Hospital. As these are unprecedented times, he applied because he hoped there is something he could do to help and translate information in a useful way. The time commitment is a concern because his wife also works and he has to watch his three children. Jeffrey Lamson is a new applicant for the Town Forest Committee. He has lived in Reading since he was in the third grade. He is interested in joining the Committee because he has been a user of Town Forest by trail running with his dog and walking with the Boy Scouts. Brian Scouten is a new applicant for the Town Forest Committee. Having grown up in Reading, he has spent a lot of time hiking and engaging in other activities in the Town Forest. He is also active with the Reading Garden Club, Memorial Day and Veterans Day Page 1 1 events with the Boy Scouts, and Town Day. He was also a hockey coach and involved with the Fall Street Faire. Through his job and activities, he is able to work with a diverse group of people with different interests. Tedi Asher is a new applicant for the Board of health. She is a new resident having moved to Town just last September. She studied at Strathmore for her undergraduate work, and at Harvard Medical for her graduate work. She is focused on neurobiology and works at the Peabody Essex Museum as a Neuroscience Researcher. During the pandemic, she has had a relatively Flexible schedule. At the conclusion of the interviews, Mr. Bacci and Ms. Herrick first discussed whom to appoint to the Board of Health. Following a lengthy discussion with input from Eleanor Shonkoff, current BOH Chair, Emmy Dove, former BOH Chair, and Andy Friedmann, former BOH member, Mr. Bacci and Ms. Herrick agreed that the three people they wanted to appoint were Paula Curren, Kerry Dunnell, and Kevin Sexton. Ms. Herrick proposed appointing Ms. Curren and Ms. Dunnell as full members and switch Mr. Sexton to Associate member. Mr. Bacci preferred to reappoint Mr. Sexton as full member, Ms. Dunnell as full member, and Ms. Curren as associate. They agreed to present their separate recommendations to the full Select Board and let the full Board vote. Mr. Bacci and Ms. Herrick then agreed that all other incumbents seeking reappointment, or member status changes be appointed accordingly, and assigned all other new applicants based on their conversations. [The full list of recommendations appears on the following pages.] Meeting adjourned 8:11pm.
