Perry, Josh Goldlust, David Clark Members - Not Present: Jordan Serpone, Kyung Yu Others Present: Amy Lannon Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Josh Goldlust Josh calls meeting to order at 7:02 pm 1. Sharing Experiences a. Josh shared about the debate and encouraged about next week's HRAC event with the Senator/ Representatives. b. Amy-library working on framework for 6-8 month series for"see it, name it, change it" for anti racism. Multi modal series. See and identify issues, name it, and change it. c. Kern- Teachers event in the square for Brianna Taylor. Seemed like a good turnout. No issues, calm and peaceful. 2. Police Readout: a. Instagram issue- over the weekend. (2) fake Instagram accounts. They were shut down but did have some racial comments. A person was identified and charged. Does not qualify as hate crime but language was hate based. Means it will be filed at state level. Reached out to State groups to ensure correct policies were followed and confirmed all processes were followed. Also Reading is adding more people to civil rights officer training to ensure we follow all the processes and documentation. b. Zoom bombings- going around districts around the country. People need to follow best practices and are now fully implemented. Zoom meetings were posted on a social media sites and tried to be accessed from overseas and around the country. Not much that can be done locally. c. Oct Breast cancer awareness and Domestic Violence awareness. Special patches being worn and sold to raise money for local charities. 3. Sen/ Rep Listening Event a. Josh reviewed event logistics b. Event overlap- will do better going forward in coordination with Town c. Pre-Planning MLK Jr '21 event- Discussion on how to engage with the community in what we will assume will be 100% remote a. Josh review list from last meeting. Still needs to connect with those groups to gauge involvement remotely b. Amy- thoughts on using Webinar for the 1 hr program. Any other portions to the event? Kern- possible countdown posts leading up to MLK event like we did with Racial Justice event c. Pre-recording audio or music events spliced together. d. Interview students & residents about thoughts on MLK. Representation from community e. Kerri- Ways to get kids to do crafts ahead of time to show collage. My picture with MLK or racial justice.... Maybe Library could have a 'take home' craft kit along with our theme 5. HRAC community calendar- Kerri also added links to other sites for those events we were highlighting. For November and before our next meeting, a. National Native American Heritage Month- history of native Americans b. Veterans Day 11°M1 6. Sept Minutes a. Kerri makes motion to approve minutes, Josh 2nds. Approved 3-0 7. Additional Items a. Advice from HRAC- events and marches from groups in Oct. about plans that impact traffic and security that the police and DWP don't have resources to fully support. 8. Establish date for next meeting a. To avoid multiple town meetings in Nov, moving to Wed Nov 18th at 7 PM 9. Motion to adjourn: Josh makes motion to adjourn, Dave Clark 2nds. Motion passes 3-0.
