G. Fiorente gives an update on the Birch Meadow Master Plan and presents the
rough blueprint of conceptual design to the committee.
The committee has a brief discussion on the plan and makes the following key
suggestions and comments:
-Update and highlight what is changing on the plan and how much actual
programmable space we are getting
-Concerns of baseballs flying into the playground since it is moved by Majors Field
in the draft plan
G. Fiorente gives an update on programming and discusses the success of taking
over soccer for the Fall. She states that the division may be able to get a small
amount of indoor space this winter and will not be able to run the Sunday
Basketball Program or Travel Basketball. She goes on to say that most gyms are
set up as classrooms or caf6 spaces at this time.
K. Kaminer states that she wanted to follow-up on the last meeting with the
pickleball community. K. Kaminer had reached out to Mike Coltman about helping
with creating a formal organization as well as giving ideas on fundraising efforts for

a potential pickleball facility. Kate goes on to say how she invited Friends of
Reading Tennis representative Lorraine Salter and Friends of Reading Recreation
representative Pete Coumoundorous as they have successfully formed non-profit
groups. Kate asks Mike Coltman how he feels after the meeting.
M. Coltman states that he got the sense that the group thought that things could go
quickly and he doesn't quite share the same enthusiasm. He goes on to say that
there is no real good location for it but had thought of Symonds. He also says that
he, himself does not have the organizational capabilities so he would have to work
on finding someone to help with the effort.
G. Fiorente states that pickleball courts are on the Birch Meadow Master Conceptual
Design Plan. M. Coltman responds that that is good news and he will have to take a
closer look at the plan when he has the opportunity.
E. Sisson makes a motion to adjourn at 5:30pm. Committee roll call votes. All in
favor to adjourn.
