Topics of Discussion:
10:04am call to order.
• Shonkoff - Elevated Ann Marie Messina to full voting member for this meeting.
• Shonkoff - Asked for public comment, none was offered.
• Shonkoff - Opened discussion for nurse staffing levels for summer and fall.
BOH - Discussed the need to post a nursing position for potential hire if
needed. Talked about the need for two school nurses to remain on over the
summer months. And they talked about the need for new nurses in the fall
months and to get them trained in the summer.
• Shonkoff - Recreation discussion.
Ficrente - Discussed the Mass.gov adult outdoor sport requirements and that
she has been getting asked when those groups can resume.
• Shonkoff - Asked to have the link to the state guidance on all
proposals from those groups looking to start up again.
• Vlasuk - Asked if the guidance will be used for camps?
Fiorente - Said it would be used for smaller groups.
• B. Hayes - Asked about letting other towns travel to Reading to play
against our teams and if that would be an issue?
• Vlasuk - Said the state did not say it wasn't allowed.
• Shonkoff - Will call the state to seek guidance on the issue.
Shonkoff - Basketball courts and what town are doing.
• BOH - Discussed whether to open them or keep them closed.
• Messina - Is in favor of opening them in step 2 of phase 2.
• Shonkoff - Will get guidance from the state to clarify the use.
I Shonkoff - Playgrounds - they are open per the state, how do we keep them
clean?

• BOH - Discussed having signage approved by Town Counsel that has
the state guidance on it and that the Town will not be cleaning them
so people who use them are aware of that.
C Hurley - Said the softball league will only have a couple of out of town
leagues playing in it.
• BOH - Discussed reviewing plans from various town leagues as to how
they will maintain state guidance.
I Sexton - Motion to approve the Reading Recreation Division Field Use
Request form as amended to have the state guidance link added to it.
• Shonkoff - 21d.
• Sexton - yes, Shonkoff - yes, Messina - yes
BOH - In agreement that Fiorente and Shonkoff will determine the exact
protocols to let the girls softball league operate.
• Shonkoff - New survey.
BOH - Needs to approve the shortened version for over the phone survey
requests.
• Delios - Said they have had trouble doing it over the phone, but found
another way to survey the people we intended the phone option to be
for,
• Shonkoff - Reviewing Protocols.
I Delios - DPW protocols.
• BOH - Needs to review them for feedback.
• Delios - Said Town Counsel is reviewing as well.
• Sexton - Suggested for the BOH to review over the weekend and
discuss Monday.
o Delios - COVID-19 testing for employees - Would the BOH want testing
done?
• BOH - discussing if we have the capacity to test employees and would
administer the tests.
• Sexton - Motion to adjourn at 11:54am.
o Shonkoff - 2^d.
