HomeMy WebLinkAbout2020-03-19 Board of Health Minutes rq O ' Town of Reading a Meeting Minutes BJ Board - Committee - Commission - Council: _ G i2 33 Board of Health Date: 2020-03-19 Time: 10:00 AM Building: Location: Address: Session: Open Session Purpose: COVID-19 Version: Final Attendees: Members - Present: Emmy Dove, Eleanor Shonkoff, Kevin Sexton Members - Not Present: Lara Romonowski, AnnMarie Messina Others Present: Jean Cellos, Laura Vlasuk, Bob Lelacheur, Jayne Wellman Minutes Respectfully Submitted By: Kevin Sexton Topics of Discussion: *Board discussion on closing the playgrounds, athletic fields and rec areas: Sexton makes a motion to close all basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, and athletic fields/complexes. Shonkoff 2nd the motion. Role call vote: Dove-yes, Sexton-yes, Shonkoff-yes. *Board discussion on shutting down Town hall: - Dove-We need to have a written policy on Town employees for notification if they contract COVID-19. -Vlasuk-A Town employee has been in contact with someone who has COVID-19. -Shonkoff- With a Planning Committee update-They are trying to get employees to work remotely. Should the board of health direct them to close Town Hall and work remotely? - Sexton- What are the essential personnel who would need to still come in? DPW? Facilities? - Wellman- informed the board that we can get voice mail transferred to a digital file and sent via email to that employee. She told the board the Tewksbury DPW moved to only 1 person per truck and only 2 people per site work. -Delios- Planning Committee added a goal 47 to the Towns plan titled Employee Staffing. They are putting a plan In place for who can work remotely. -Sexton- Asked if we could shut down Town Hall for a short period of time until the plan is in place? How would that disrupt the business of town? - Dove- speaking to the not yet established notification policy said, if the person self- quarantines without a test, there's not much we can do. But, that person can call around telling people they have been in contact with, that they are self-quarantining. He's been in touch with state and legal on how they can come up with a policy for employees to work remotely and they hope to have it in place Monday. Dellos-Said that she was at Market Basket and there were a lot of people and a lot of product to buy. Vlasuk- informed the board of a presumptive positive in Town. A mom with 4 children at 2 schools. Schools/facilities were notified. Another 72 year old male was being tested. She determined that she can pass info along to the person in charge of the town during a crisis, which is Fire Chief Greg Burns, so that our public safety personnel can be made aware if someone has tested positive at a particular address. She also said that we are getting help from Malden's nurse to use Maven to contact presumptive positive cases and follow up with them to do contact tracing of individuals they've been in contact with. Delios-Told the board that our new nurse will be staring March 24, 2020 and will work to get up to speed ASAP. • Dove made a motion to Adjourn • Shonkoff 2"e • Role call vote: Sexton-yes, Shonkoff-yes, Dove-yes.
