Topics of Discussion:
1. Review and vote on minutes from the December 4,2019,meeting.
a. Eileen Manning made a motion to accept the December 4,2019, minutes
with"Other"removed(since no other topics were discussed)and
Marianne Downing seconded the motion.
2. School Happenings
a. Inclusive Practices: Adam Hickey/Train the Trainer(January 6 & 7)
1. 8 teachers were observed and 3 teachers along with Mrs.
Shankland and Mr.Norton,observed the teachers and observed
Adam Hickey giving feedback. Adam will return for two days in
February for follow-up observations.
2. Helped identify positive trends,areas to grow
3. At the end of February, all of this information will be shared at
staff meeting by participants.
b. Parent Visitation Day tomorrow
1. Why January?This is when it has always been scheduled. Can
look at timing for future. Maybe the fall?
c. Equity: Karen Hall/Professional Development(January 8 &29)
1. Two PD sessions on bias
2. Implicit versus explicit bias(reflect on our own biases)
3. Bias in curriculum materials

b. Student Survey will be given January 2020
1. VOCAL Survey distributed to see 2019 versus 2018 results
2. Some of the questions used on January student survey for purpose
of comparisons from year to year
3. Some questions same as last year student survey for comparison
4. Questions on inclusive practices included

1. During our conversations,it was asked"Are there are vertical meetings between
the middle and high schools?'
a. This does not happen in ELA and math departments?
1. Has happened for math,not ELA
2. What about a survey created by middle school for HS teachers to
take about strengths and weaknesses of middle school students
entering high school (current freshman)?
