• Stepped up communication with and meetings with families of students with attendance
issues
Inclusive Practices
• Summer committee planned professional development time for the year(regarding
inclusive practices)
• All teachers have an inclusive practice goal using the "build your own adventure"
template created by the committee
• Adam Hickey, from Landmark Consulting, observed 8 teachers across content areas and
grade levels while principal and 3 teachers(who have been observed by him in previous
years)observed him give feedback to those teachers. We developed a list of positive
trends and a list of trends that can be addressed using inclusive practices.Adam returned
in early February to observe and give feedback to the same teachers again.
• We did NOT do structured instructional rounds this year due to lack of subs and subs
needed for other PD and Adam Hickey work.
• Intervention tracker being used consistently-now we need to work on data for being
released from intervention
• Grade 6 teachers completed second day of Writer's Workshop training at the end of
January
• Math strategies based on November meeting time -teachers usinglactivating either a
reference section in their binder or interactive notebook(using table of contents),
integrating cumulative material into lessons and assessments until mastery(or some other
method of addressing concepts not mastered)
• FLA strategies based on November meeting time -we have had two meetings(one with
all ELA and one with both ELA/SS to talk about writing and establish a common practice
when responding to writing prompts. This is still in progress.
• Science strategies based on November meeting time- all science teachers are working
together to create review materials for grade 8 based on what they taught at each grade
level. Grade 7 teachers are going to review topics with 8th grade that they taught in grade
7 (teacher swap). Grade 6 will do the same next year
• Have not yet revisited our new family/student plan
• Making progress on curriculum guides
• Math pilot data has all been collected and is being reviewed for next steps
• Principal attended achievement gap workshops and is working on plans with both RMHS
and Coolidge
• Feifer assessments for reading and math have been purchased and used several times for
regular ed intervention diagnostics
Equity
• PD with Karen Hall on Equity during two early release days in January
• Late January/Early February building leadership team will analyze attendance data and
determine next steps
• Restorative practices building wide work has been delayed(but some staff have been
participating in a book group and working on practices in their own classrooms)
• Staff/student surveys will be completed by Jan 28 (PD,inclusive practices,advisory,
relationships, support,etc)
