Meeting of the Board of Public Works convened in Room 16,
Municipal Building at 8:00 P. M.
Present were Chairman Dustin, Board Members Russell and
Cowell , Superintendent Louanis and Assistant Superintendent
Bergeron.
The Board met with Weston and Sampson, Inc. 's engineers
to discuss the final draft report on the Water System Study.
Weston and Sampson, Inc. were represented by Mr. Robert Pope
and Mr. William Perkins. Mr. Perkins presented a summary,
chapter by chapter and many questions were asked by the Board
Members of Mr. Pope and Mr. Perkins. It was generally con—
cluded that the following general modifications and additions
should be included in the report.
1 . The recommendations portion of the report will state in
definite terms the importance of each phase and the
reasons for their implementation.
2. Standby electric power supply required by Massachusetts
Regulations.
A. Recommendations for present upgrading including
well numbers.
B. Variance for not having the required standby power
from the State for the treatment plant.
3. Additional paragraph in the sodium and radioactivity
section to further explain them. Note on the effects
of present treatment, present raw water and proposed
treatment in tabular form. Also ref. PL92-500 req.
4. Importance of doing groundwater testing and its impact
on other phases with more detail on what needs to take
place between now and 1985.
5. Recommendations for some temporary corrective measures
that can be implemented between now and 1985.
6. Figure 1 . Add G.P.M. figures on Table 14, so that they
may be compared with Table 1 , Figure B-1 (?) Page 101
figure (?) .
7. Table of contents and Tab Sections.
8. Recommendations should address the possible losses in
the distribution system and possible corrective measures.
9. Correction Page 43 Cleanwell storage volume.
10. In regard to the additional sources of supply state the
order in which the areas should be investigated.
11 . Correct all references to Town Forest auxillary power
not available.
12. Indicate possible future problems and changes in
standards that may effect the Town.
13. Reduce size of fold re: drawings.
It is agreed that the Final Report should be available
to the Board on February 14, 1978.
