Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M.
in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Watt, Secretary Kenney, Board Mem-
bers Cochrane and Florence, and Superintendent Welch.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
It was moved , seconded and voted to continue in Executive Session.
Mr. James W. Killam, representing Town Counsel J. Warren
Killam, and Mr. Gerard Kaelin, representing the United States
Fidelity & Guaranty Company, conferred with the Board and dis-
cussed the various aspects of the Sanitary Sewer Contract with
A. Lucchetti & Son, Inc. The apparent abandonment of the con-
tract was discussed as were the several conferences and the re-
lated correspondence.
It was moved, seconded and unanimously voted to notify
A. Lucchetti & Son, Inc. that their employment with the Town of
Reading will be terminated as of Tuesday, August 27, 1963, and
that the Superintendent be instructed to prepare a letter to that
effect, listing the reasons therefor which is to be signed by the
Board.
It was moved, seconded and voted to notify the United
States Fidelity & Guaranty Company that the employment of A.
Lucchetti & Son, Inc. will be terminated as of Tuesday, August 27,
1963, and request them, as the bonding agent, to proceed to make
arrangements for the balance of the Sanitary Sewer work to be com-
pleted, and that the Superintendent be instructed to prepare a let-
ter to the United States Fidelity & Guaranty Company, setting forth
the above facts, which is to be signed by the Board.
The meeting continued in open session.
Considered letter from Baptist Church requesting permis-
mission to install a second sewer house connection to the Church
so that a portion of the lower area of the Church can be used for
teaching retarded children.
It was moved, seconded and voted to make the installa-
tion and to waive the normal assessment.
Considered list of bidders and note from Superintendent
relative to a 35,000 GWV Dump truck. Bidders are: -

It was moved, seconded and voted to purchase the truck
from The White Motor Co. at the bid price of $8,625.00.
A short discussion took place relative to repairs to the
Department garage.
It was agreed to further discuss the problem at the next
meeting.
The Board signed the Billroll dated August 16, 1963.
Meeting adjourned at 10:00 P.M.
