HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-12-10 Board of Public Works Minutes :1 .33 December 10, 1962 Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at �` 7:30 P. M. in Room 16, Municipal Building . Present were Chairman Hodson, Secretary Watt, Board Mem- bers Brown and Kenney, and Superintendent Welch. Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved. Messrs.Kohler and Cook of Oak Street appeared before the Board regarding connection to the sanitary sewer in Oak Street. They were advised that the installation had not been accepted by the Town and house connections would not be made until the Spring of 1963. The Superintendent informed the Board that income from dump permits amounted to $1,097.50. This data was accepted as a point of information. - Mr. Welch presented to the Board Members copies of a breakdown of Water Department income - 1961 actual; 1962 to Novem- ber 30; 1962 estimated total and 1963 estimated total. It was accepted as information to the Board. Hearing was held at 8:00 P.M. for the purpose of taking an easement for drainage and sewerage purposes through private property Westerly of Pearl Street. No persons attended the hear- ing. Mr. Brown moved that the Easement be taken subject to the receipt of the signed Release from Damages; Mr. Kenney seconded and it was voted. Read comments of Mr. Welch on the consumer bills in the July and October 1962 series. This was accepted as information to the Board. Hearing was held at 8:15 P.M. regarding the proposed ex- tension of gas mains as requested by the Mystic Valley Gas Company in the following locations : - 134 Cumberland Road - Melbourne Avenue to Victoria Avenue Kensington Avenue - Melbourne Avenue to Victoria Avenue Victoria Avenue - Summer Avenue to Sunnyside Avenue The pipes will be located within the limits of the above-mentioned streets. Mr. Louis Stockwell, representing the Mystic Valley Gas Company, attended the Hearing. Mr. Kenney moved that the petition be approved; 11r.Brown seconded and the motion carried. The Board signed the plan for the proposed extension of gas mains in the aforementioned streets. The Board adjourned temporarily at 8:20 P.M. to meet as the Board of Survey. The Board reconvened at 8:35 P.11. Mr. Welch presented to the Board a copy of the sick leave policy for municipal employees of the Town of Andover which he had received from the Personnel Board; also his comments in relation thereto. Mr. Kenney moved the item be taken under advisement; Mr. Brown seconded and the motion carried. Read note from the Superintendent that the last two meet- ings of this year fall on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. It was moved, seconded and voted to hold meetings on December 17, 1962 and December 20, 1962, and to omit meetings on December 24 and December 31 and resume regular Monday meetings on January 7, 1963. The Board considered certain portions of the 1963 budget. The Board signed the Billroll and Payroll for the period December 1 through December 7, 1962. Meeting adjourned at 10:30 P.1i.
