LRegular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Hodson, Board Members Brown and
Kenney, and Superintendent Welch.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved as
amended.
Read letter from the Board of Selectmen regarding Sick
Leave Policy for the Town Employees. A short discussion followed.
The Board adjourned at 8:20 P.M. to attend a. conference
called by the Selectmen to discuss the Sick Leave Policies of the
various Departments. Several Town Departments were represented
at the conference and many details were discussed. It was fi-
nally agreed that the Personnel Board would make a study of the
` problem and submit a report on it at a later date.
The Board reconvened at 9:00 P.M.
The Board removed from the table the item of a fence
located on a wall abutting 120 Middlesex Avenue, allegedly in
need of repair.
Mr. Kenney moved, Mr. Brown seconded and it was voted
to table the item for one week pending further investigation.
Mr. Brown moved, Mr. Kenney seconded and it was voted
to table letter from the Stoneham Incinerator Committee until
a full Board is present.
Read letter from Dean P. Fowler, 131 Summer Avenue,
Reading, requesting permission to construct a cement concrete
sidewalk abutting his property.
Mr. Brown moved the petition be approved, Mr. Kenney
seconded and it was voted. .ril
Read letter from Allen I. Barry, representing
Tex-Vit Manufacturing Company of Mineral Wells, Texas, con-
firming his attendance at the Board Meeting, September 24 at
8:30 P.M. to show slides and talk on Sewage Lift Stations.
