December 18, 1961
Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M. in Room 16, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Florence, Secretary Leonard,
Board Members Hodson, Watt and Brown and Superintendent Welch.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved as
amended.
Read notice from the Board of Selectmen requesting that
all information for the Annual Report of the Town of Reading be
in their office not later than January 15, 1962.
The Chairman read and signed letter addressed to Paul
E. Dube, 150 West Street in regard to the cleaning of culvert
and ditch in the rear of his property.
The Board adjourned temporarily at 7:55 P.M. to meet as
the Board of Survey.
The Board reconvened at 8:15 P.M.
The Superintendent presented to the Board the 1962 Bud-
get. Mr. Florence requested Board Members to study the Budget
and if questions arise, contact the Superintendent before December
27, the date of the next meeting.
Mr. Leonard requested that Mr. Welch prepare for Members
of the Boardcopies of the Study by the Incinerator Committee.
The Board signed the following:
Street Betterment Commitment sheets for 1961
Bill-roll and Pay-roll for the period December 10 through
December 16, 1961
' It was moved, seconded and voted to continue the meet-
ing in Executive Session.

Proposed new minimum and maximum salaries for the
classifications affecting the Board of Public Works were con-
sidered and the various- reasons for upgrading them were dis-
cussed.
A list of proposed individual salary changes was sub-
mitted by the Superintendent and was considered in detail by the
Board, including the individual evaluation of each employee.
Questions were asked of and answered by the Superintendent. The
effect of the new evaluation plan was discussed. Costs of pro-
posed increases mere considered.
It was moved, seconded and voted to reconvene in open
session.

posed list of minimum and maximum salaries and submit it to the i
Personnel Board for their consideration. J
It was moved, seconded and voted to approve the pro-
posed list of individual salaries and submit it to the Personnel
Board for their consideration.
