November 6, 1961
Regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at
7:30 P.M. in Room 14, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Florence, Secretary Leonard,
Board Members Hodson, Watt and Brown, and Superintendent Welch.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
Read letter from Selectmen confirming conversation with
Mr. Florence regarding demolition of the freight sheds at the
Boston & Maine Railroad for the sum of $3, 800.
Read letter from Mirra Company, Inc. requesting an ex-
tension of time on the sewer contract and Mr. Welch's comments
thereto. Mr. Leonard moved that Mirra Company, Inc. be given an
extension until December 1, 1961 to complete the present contract
which he has with the Town of Reading; Mr. Hodson seconded and
it was voted.
Read petition from abuttors on Summer Avenue between
Main Street and Walnut Street requesting extension of the common
sewer to service their properties. Mr. Welch advised the Board
that the street is scheduled for sewer in 1966. Mr. Leonard
moved that the petition be placed on file and the person whose
name first appeared on the petition be notified of the above;
Mr. Hodson seconded and it was voted.
Mr. Welch presented to the Board the following data on
,job evaluation - Proposed Point Evaluation for Each Classifica-
tion, Proposed Schedule of Salaries, and Rough Estimate of Costs.
r Questions regarding the program were asked by each Board Member
Lof the Superintendent and Mr. Watt. A detailed discussion fol-

lowed. It was moved, seconded and voted to table the matter
for one week. ..
Signed Sewer House Connection commitment sheets.
Signed Bill-roll and Pay-roll for the period October
29 through November 4, 1961.
Meeting adjourned at 9:55 P.M.

Town of Reading, in compliance with the provisions of
General Laws, Chapter 80, as amended by Chapter 63 of
the Acts of 1933, hereby certify that the list herewith
contains the names of persons against whom we have made
betterment assessments, together with the location of
the land benefited by the improvement and the nature and
amount of such betterment assessment.
And such list is certified to you for the pur-
pose of committing the same to the Tax Collector, as
provided by law.
