August 2, 1961
Meeting of the Board of Public Works was held in Room
14, Municipal Building at 7:30 P.M.
Present were Chairman Florence, Secretary Leonard,
Board Members Hodson and Watt and Superintendent Welch.
It was moved, seconded and voted to hold the meeting
in executive session.
Records of previous meeting read and approved.
Read note from Superintendent recommending the promo-
tion of Mr. Roger Louanis from Assistant Civil Engineer to Civil
Engineer.
Mr. Watt moved, Mr. Leonard seconded and it was voted
to approve the recommended promotion at a salary of $13$.00 per
week subject to approval by the Personnel Board.
Read note from the Superintendent recommending the em-
ployment of one Henry Weston, who now works for the Algonquin
Gas Company as Assistant Civil Engineer, at a salary of $120.00
per week.
Mr. Leonard moved, Mr. Watt seconded and it was voted
to approve the employment of Mr. Weston as Assistant Civil
Engineer at a salary of $120.00 per week subject to approval by
the Personnel Board.
Read note from Superintendent recommending salary
increases to twelve employees in the lower pay brackets.
Mr. Leonard moved, Mr. Hodson seconded and it was
voted to approve the twelve recommended increases subject to
approval by the Personnel Board.

The Board discussed at some length and in detail the
problem of employment, classification and salaries. Considered
were classification assignments of present employees, classi-
fication assignment of future employees and changes in present
classifications, descriptions and salaries.
It was moved, seconded and voted to request a meeting
with the Personnel Board to discuss basic problems and to see
if agreement can be reached on general areas before the task of
rewriting the descriptions and other material is undertaken.
Meeting adjourned at 10:10 P.M.
