February 13, 1961
1The regular meeting of the Board of Public Works opened
at 7:30 P.M. in Room 14, Municipal Building.
Present were Chairman Florence, Secretary Harrison, Mr.
Hodson and Superintendent Welch.
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved.
Read reports received from the Police Department on
activities at the Reading Dump on December 10 and 11, 1960. This
data was accepted as a point of information.
The Chairman read list of buildings having sprinkler
service and the 1960 income therefrom. The Superintendent sug-
gested that consideration be given to establishing a new fee of
ten cents per sprinkler head with minimum fee of ten dollars.
' Mr. Harrison moved that the matter be tabled for one week; Mr.
Hodson seconded and it was voted.
Mr. Welch announced that a joint Sewer Hearing will be
held February 27, 1961 at 7:30 P.M. in the Community Center at
$2 Sanborn Street.
Mr. Hodson moved that the acceptance of Putnam (Private)
Road as a Public Way with sloped curbing be removed from the table
for consideration. Mr. Harrison seconded and it was voted.
After a discussion Mr. Harrison moved that the Board
recommend acceptance of Putnam (Private) Road as a Public Way
with sloped curbing under the Betterment Act at the Annual Town
Meeting. Mr. Hodson seconded and it was voted.
' Signed the pay-roll and bill-roll for the period Feb-
ruary 5 to February 12, 1961.

It was moved, seconded and voted to continue the
meeting in Executive Session.
The Chairman read note from the Superintendent re-
garding the sick leave of Harry B. Evans. It was moved,
seconded and voted to table the matter for consideration on
February 27 at which time a decision would be reached.
A Joint meeting was held with the Board of Select-
men and the Municipal Light Board to discuss the action of the
Personnel Board in denying any salary increases.
After a detailed discussion it was agreed that the
Chairman of each Board would write the Personnel Board request-
ing a conference to again discuss proposed salary increases.
Meeting adjourned at 10:15 P.M.
