HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-02-01 Board of Public Works Minutes 1v February 1, 1960 ' Meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M. Secretary Harrison, Board Members Donahue, Florence and Leonard and' Superintendent Welch were present. Mr. - Florence acted as Chairman. Records of the previous meeting were read and approved. Read note from Superintendent relative to proposed Water Bond issues. Received advice from 14r. Amon, the Town Counsel, and Mr. Dine of the b,unicipal Accounts Division, that the item for Repairs to the Present Treatment Plant in the amount of : 15,000 should not be included in the Bond Issues. It was moved, seconded and voted that the 815,000 item of Repairs to the Present Building be eliminated from the ' Bond Issue and the item for Developing Well No. 15 be substi- tuted if funds are available after the work of building_a treat- ment plant, installing a control panel and developing "B" line well is completed. Hearing at 8:00 P.M. on proposed sewer easement through private lands in the rear of houses No. 849 to 899 on the East side of Main Street. Mr. bears, the builder, requests the bill in the amount of y88.15 be apportioned for ten years. It was moved, seconded and voted to deny the request for apportionment. Considered the request of Dana Alward of 450 Summer Avenue for an abatement on his street betterment assessment for the construction of Knollwood Road. ' Two letters from Mr. Alward in which he lists his reasons for the request were read and the contents considered in de- tail. A note from the Superintendent relative to the same mat- ter also was considered. It was moved, seconded and voted to deny the request for an abatement. Read note from Superintendent relative to proposed new By-Law requiring a physical examination for all future Town employees. Several possible problems arising from the By-Law were discussed. .. 1 ?' ' The matter was laid on the table for future discus- sion and consideration. Conferred with the Finance Committee to discuss the details of the proposed Water Bond issues.
