December 28, 1959
The meeting of the Board of Public Works opened at 7:30 P.M.
Chairman Zanni, Secretary Harrison, Board Members Donahue, Florence
and Leonard and Superintendent Welch were- present.
The records of the previous meeting were read and approved .
Read note from the Superintendent requesting Board to decide
if they wish to ask for a Special Town Meeting and , if so, what
items they wish to include.
It was moved, seconded and voted to request the Selectmen to
call a Special Town Meeting in late January 1960 -and to request
the following items be inserted in the Warrant: -
1. A Water Bond Issue for Treatment Plant
2. A 1960 Sewer Construction appropriation
3 . An appropriation for repairs to the Mineral Street
Bridge
Due to the absence of Mr. Rixon, Chairman of the Recreation Com-
mittee, the proposed joint meeting with the Recreationpostponed
until 8:00 P.M . on Monday, January 4, 1960.
Signed the following listed 1959 Commitment Sheets for Better-
ment Assessments:
1. Street Betterment Assessments
2. Bituminous Concrete Sidewalk Assessments
3 . Sewer Construction Frontage Assessments
4. Sewer House Connection Assessments
5. Water Main Extension Assessments
Read report from Superintendent stating that the estimated cost
of adding a sidewalk to the Mineral Street Bridge would be $8,500.

It was moved, seconded and voted to submit this estimate
to the Finance Committee and to add this item to the list of
warrant articles to be included in the requested Special Town
Meeting mentioned above.
Conferred with Town Counsel relative to Town Dump and the
legal case now at issue.
Considered list of proposed 1960 Salary Schedule. Each
increase was considered separately.
It was moved, seconded and voted to approve the list with
five amendments.
It was moved, seconded and voted to request the Personnel
Board to change the salary limits of the classification "Public
Works Superintendent" to the same limits as proposed for the
classification "Municipal Light Manager",
